For health professionals

LISFERA Calculators: ultrasound and DXA in lipedema, with a PDF report.

Enter the exam measurements and see, region by region, where each value sits against the studies of Amato (2021) and Buso (2022). At the end, an A4 report to print or save as PDF.

The exam comes with numbers. The lipedema reference does not.

Ultrasound gives the thickness of the tissue under the skin; DXA gives the fat in each body segment. To know whether those values look like those of people with lipedema, you have to dig up the papers, the tables and the device used in each study. The calculator bridges that gap and shows each study's limits alongside.

In the subscription

What the subscription includes

  • Ultrasound calculator

Four regions, two sides, up to three measurements per site. The average is calculated for you and each side is compared with Amato's cut-off. A region only counts when both sides are above it; if only one is, the screen flags the asymmetry.

  • DXA calculator

Buso's three indices (legs to total, limbs to total, trunk to legs), with the 0.383 cut-off that helps rule lipedema out, plus body composition, lean mass and visceral fat when there is a reference for the device.

  • Clinical picture in the report

A short list of signs to check: disproportion, pain on touch, Stemmer sign and the red flags that call for another diagnosis. It opens the report, because lipedema is a clinical diagnosis.

  • A4 report in three languages

Ready to print or save as PDF, with the patient's initials, date, values, cut-offs and sources. In Portuguese, Spanish or English, for patients who live in another country.

Where the numbers come from

Each result shows the size and limits of the study. The calculator gives no probability of lipedema and does not add regions up, because no study has published such a rule.

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator say whether the patient has lipedema?

No. It compares the exam values with published cut-offs and shows what each study allows you to say. Lipedema is a clinical diagnosis, and that call is yours.

Who can subscribe?

Health professionals registered as professionals in the LISFERA community. The calculator does not open for patient accounts.

After subscribing, where do I use the calculators?

In the LISFERA Community, under Conteúdos (Contents), in the Calculadoras LISFERA card. There you find the ultrasound and the DXA calculators, which take the values from your patient's exam and generate the report. The presentation with the example stays open to anyone who has not subscribed yet.

Does it work with any DXA device?

Buso's indices were studied on Lunar (GE) devices. With Hologic or another device, the calculation runs and the screen warns that the cut-off may not apply the same way.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, in the phone or computer browser, inside the community.

How does the 30-day free trial work?

You add your card and use the calculators for 30 days without paying. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged.

Bring published cut-offs into your consultation
